If students wish to have additional funds with them during the summer term, they should not keep large sums of cash. Some suggested methods include: - Have a Visa or MasterCard credit card. Many foreign banks and foreign automated teller machines will give cash on short notice with either card and they can be used to make many purchases.
- Obtain a Visa or MasterCard debit card. These cards function like ATM cards, debiting purchases and cash advances directly from the designated checking account. They can be used wherever credit cards are accepted and at most foreign automated teller machines. Check with your bank on the availability of these cards.
Previous students advise future students to take or have access through credit cards up to $500, especially if they are traveling before or after their summer session. $250 is a bare minimum if no additional travel is planned. $50 worth of books and school supplies are included in the fee.
