All the students will stay in the Tokyo Campus of Saniku Gakuin College / Japan Union Conference Facility from June 15 to June 20 for various cultural programs, in order to experience the life in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. The tours include the Tokyo Tower, the Japanese Garden and Tea Ceremony, the National Diet Building, Imperial Palace Plaza, Sumidagawa River Cruise, Akasaka Kanon Temple, Ginza, and Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain of Japan, where the students will go to the visitor center, and take the famous bullet train on the way back.
Students may also participate in the optional Cultural Education Tours during the afternoons and the weekends. Tours will include visits to Akihabara Electric District, National Museum, Traditional Sumo Tournament, Odaiba, Ueno Zoo. One of the biggest assets of Japan is its safety record. The cultural norm in Japan is that anyone can walk alone anytime anywhere.
Travel/Visa Information
The students from La Sierra University will be traveling from Los Angeles International Airport to Tokyo International Airport and each student is responsible for their airfare, which will cost about $950 roundtrip. In order to make it easy, the program coordinator will assist the students to purchase their tickets, so that the entire group will travel together and arrive at the Tokyo International Airport at the same time.
Students who will be travelling from other places in the US, please contact and inform the Coordinator, Dr. Yoshi Mineyama, your arrival information and he will arrange to pick you up from the Tokyo International Airport.
Registration and Deadlines
The schedule below indicates the application procedures and deadlines that all applicants must meet. They can apply to the Adventist College Abroad through their home colleges. A minimum number of 5 students is required to open each class.
ACA Application Deadline with the home campus registration approval: March 26, 2010
Arrival on the SGC Tokyo Campus/Japan SDA Union Conference facility: June 15, 2010
Arrival on the SGC Main Campus: June 21, 2010
Departure from Tokyo International Airport to the United States: August 2, 2010
Course Information
Every student has the option to take either the First Year Japanese (Elementary Level) or Second Year Japanese (Intermediate Level) at the time of application submission. Students who apply for the Second Year Japanese (Intermediate Level) will be asked to provide the transcript indicating the completion of the First Year Japanese. A minimum of 5 students is required for each class. |
